Perfect Store: five controls for retail execution
Perfect Store is an agreed outlet standard that turns requirements for assortment, availability, price, shelf execution and promotion into verifiable field actions. Each control needs a rule, supporting evidence and a next step when the outlet is off standard.

In detail
The controls form one operating picture. Assortment defines what should be listed, availability shows what a shopper can find, price and promotion test commercial conditions, and shelf execution shows the quality of in-store presence.
A single score without a breakdown is difficult to act on. A manager needs to see which control failed, which product or activity it affected, what evidence supports the finding and who owns the corrective action.
The standard is set by outlet format. After the visit, a deviation becomes an action, and a later check closes the loop by distinguishing verified correction from a visit report alone.
How it is applied
- Define required assortment, availability, price, shelf and promotion rules for each outlet format.
- During the visit, the representative completes the control steps and attaches the required evidence.
- Compare the observed facts with the rules and classify each deviation by cause and priority.
- Assign the next action: correct it in the outlet, agree it with the customer or hand it to another role.
- Use a follow-up visit or event to confirm that the deviation has actually been resolved.
Practical checklist
- Every control is unambiguous for the relevant outlet format.
- Evidence is linked to the visit, product and retail outlet.
- Each deviation has an owner and a next action.
- Managers can move from the overall score to the underlying fact.
Scope and limits
The controls and their weighting are not a universal industry standard. Each company defines them by category, channel, outlet format and commercial model; automation supports consistent execution of the agreed rules.
